American Samoa seeks funding from Guam to finish airport road

The Department of Public Works in American Samoa is asking Guam's Department of Works for 3 million US dollars to help complete the Airport Road Construction project, which is estimated to cost a total of 10 million dollars.

The American Samoan department has already repaid 3 million it borrowed from Guam's federal road funding several years ago, for the Atu'u to Pago Pago project.

The Department of Public Works says its request was sent a while ago and it's hopeful Guam will agree.

The department says it's also awaiting a reply from the American Samoa Economic Stimulus and Recovery Office for money towards the project.
