The U.S. company, One Economy, is holding a meeting tomorrow to gauge public views about internet and broadband usage in American Samoa.

One Economy and the American Samoa Department of Commerce are two members of a consortium contracted to help create a national broadband map, and one of their areas of focus is American Samoa.

One of the aims of the project is to develop a comprehensive, interactive, and searchable nationwide map of existing broadband capability throughout each state or territory.

One Economy, director of international programs Daniel Calarco says the company aims to improve broadband adoption in American Samoa by better understanding the barriers residents face.

One Economy will also be conducting a survey about broadband usage and findings will be included in their report to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and the US Department of Commerce.
