Report Vanuatu also offered to host a refugee centre for Australia

It's been revealed that Vanuatu last year offered to host a refugee detention centre for Australia.

This comes as parties in Papua New Guinea and Nauru push for their camps to be re-opened, while last month it was revealed Solomon Islands had offered Canberra a site for a camp.

The Australian newspaper reports that Vanuatu had expressed an interest in processing Australia-bound refugees but this wasn't pursued by the Australian government.

Vanuatu, like Malaysia and Nauru, is not a signatory to the UN Convention on Refugees.
