Samoa is the latest country to be selected for the Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access programme.
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Le Mamea Ropati, told Savali News he hoped the programme will boost Samoan agriculture exports by ensuring Samoan products comply with international trade standards.
The taro leaf blight in the mid-1990s hurt the Samoan economy and by from 1980 to 2010, agriculture dropped from 50 per cent to 10 per cent of Samoa's GDP.
The other countries in involved in the programme are Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
The programme is focusing mainly on Australian and New Zealand markets.
