Fijian netballers depart for World Champs

The Fiji netball team leaves for Singapore today ahead of the World Championships, which begin early next month.

The 12-member squad features just change from the group which defended the Pacific Series title in Papua New Guinea two weeks ago, with Bernadette Daurewa taking the place of Jacinta Lal.

Co-coach Una Rokoura says the extra week to acclimatise should help the team settle in while they'll also have a chance to fine-tune their performances in practice games against South Africa and Sri Lanka.

"So far you know we're very so happy with the preparation of the players, the level of commitment that they've shown. South Africa has requested a match with Fiji and we have discussed it, whether it is a good idea - a good thing for the girls - just to put some last touches to our preparation into our game-plan before we play New Zealand in our first match."
