Troy Polamalu to hold football camp in American Samoa

9:40 am on 25 June 2011

The Pittsburgh Steelers' safety Troy Polamalu arrives in American Samoa on Monday night with a delegation of more than 50 family members, NFL players and staff members.

The 2010 Defensive Player of the Year will spend a week hosting his foundation's summer football camp with the help of his Steelers teammates and other NFL players of Polynesian descent.

Polamalu's assistant Ben Pourrabbani says he's excited to return to his homeland and share his roots with his inlaws.

"He's only been to American Samoa once, when he was nineteen in college, and he really wanted to give back to his heritage. So he wanted to go back and put on camp for all the kids in American Samoa to make sure that he's giving back, you know, not forgetting where he came from and all that. He's taking his whole family, his kids, he wants them all to see where his family is from."

The Troy Polamalu summer football camp will be held from June 28-30.
