Tonga cracks down on unlicensed businesses

6:56 pm on 6 July 2011

The Tonga Government is cracking down on businesses operating without valid licences.

The Ministry of Labour, Commerce and Industries says illegal operators are a serious concern because they create unfair competition for bona fide businesses and pose risks for the health and safety of the general public.

It's reminded all business operators that those not holding valid licences, which are meant to be renewed each year, are liable to be fined or imprisoned.
