12:31 pm on 8 July 2011

The Tonga Olympic Committee has dropped a number of sports from the list to take part at the Pacific Games in New Caledonia.

Beach and Indoor Volleyball have been cut after their national federations failed to

meet the requirement set by the TASA executive six months ago.

These included a failure to pay US$1,000 bond by the required deadline.

Tonga's cricket, womens rugby sevens and judo teams have also withdrawn from competing, for financial reasons, while the mens football team cancelled their participation after FIFA announced the event would no longer form part of the World Cup qualification process.
