The organisation representing NGOs in Australia says it's pleased that the government is to make the distribution of foreign aid more transparent.
Canberra this week confirmed it will implement the recommendations of an independent review of aid effectiveness.
One of the changes is for a Transparency Charter which the chief executive of the Australian Council for International Development, Mark Purcell, says is one of the reforms they've wanted for a long time.
He says the Charter will allow a greater level of information to be available to the public.
"To understand how the aid dollar is being spent. There's going to be an independent committee for evaluation which will give more information about what is working well, what's not working well and if so what do we do about it, and it's whole of government. That's important because AUSAid is not the only deliverer of aid. We have the Defence Department, Australian Federal Police, in fact they listed 90 different government departments and agencies at state and federal level."
