The French Polynesian assembly has deferred until further notice today's rescheduled debate on the reforms needed to obtain a key French loan.
The sitting's much awaited debate was to scrutinise cuts to the public sector proposed by the government as it is to meet conditions for the fund's release.
The opposition To Tatou Aia Party says the government move is an explicit failure as it lacks the numbers to pass the reforms.
It accuses the President Oscar Temaru of having sought to be in power without a solid majority and without having a perspective for the country.
At the weekend, the French high commissoner, Richard Didier, said he was awaiting the reform plan, adding that so far no figures had been released to assess it.
