Second Air Tahiti Nui strike this month settled

A second strike at Air Tahiti Nui this month has been settled, with flights in and out of French Polynesia returning to normal.

The second stoppage was organised by four unions in support of the carrier's CEO, Cedric Pastour, after the first strike by some crew members was called off amid an understanding that he would be sacked this week.

The dismissal was approved by the president, Oscar Temaru, as the government is a key shareholder.

But most staff opposed the planned dismissal and staged a rally outside the assembly in Papeete urging the airline's board to retain the management team.
