A team from the Marshall Islands has won the gold medal in the first Under 15 Micronesia Basketball Tournament in Pohnpei.
In the championship game the team defeated Pohnpei 91-67.
Assistant coach Robert Pinho says it's the first time a basketball team from the western Pacific nation has won a gold medal in a regional competition.
Wilbur Heine from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which sponsored the team, says the team will be given a heroes welcome at Majuro airport when they return home on Friday evening.
