New Zealand Defence Force personnel providing aid in Tokelau

Thirty New Zealand military personnel are in Tokelau providing assistance under the Defence Force's ongoing Exercise Tropic Twilight.

This is a commitment to disaster relief in the South Pacific and in Tokelau involves engineering, medical, dental and environmental health personnel.

They are providing medical and dental training, education on sanitation, testing of public drinking water sources and completing minor engineering projects.

A detachment from the Naval Maritime Survey Team is also undertaking hydrographic surveys of the reefs.

The senior officer, Lieutenant Commander Simon Rooke, Exercise Tropic Twilight enables the Defence Force to continue to improve its response capability and develop relationships with its Pacific partners.
