Veterans of British nuclear testing in the Pacific have had another legal ruling in their favour in their legal battle for compensation.
The claimants comprise about one thousand former service personnel from Britain, New Zealand and Fiji.

"The veterans want the British government to compensate them for illnesses they say they got through exposure to radiation during the tests in the 1950s. The defence ministry says it's not liable because the commanders at the time did not know the true radiation risks in the tests in Australia and at Kiritimati (Christmas) Island in Kiribati. Last year, the Court of Appeal ruled the veterans did not have enough evidence to convince judges of a link between radiation exposure and illness. Now the Supreme Court - the highest court in the UK - says it will give further consideration to the veterans' application to argue their right to seek damages."
