Solomon Island teachers reject government's first offer

The Solomon Islands Teachers Association has rejected the government's first offer to its cost of living adjustment demand.

Strike action was recently averted when the government agreed to negotiate with SINTA but progress has been slow.

SINTA's request is for an 11.5 percent increase in the cost of living adjustment but industrial relations officer Johnley Hatimoana says the government's first counter-offer was woeful.

Mr Hatimoana understands the government is working on another offer and says it could be another week or two before some agreement is reached.
