More details are emerging about the caretaker cabinet in Papua New Guinea's new government.
The Post Courier newspapers says the new Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has announced a 14-men caretaker cabinet which is expected to be replaced by the weekend when a full cabinet is finalised.

"The allocation of portfolios in the caretaker cabinet is understood to be an indication of Peter O'Neill's plans for a long-term line-up. Don Polye and William Duma who were recently dumped by ousted Acting Prime Minister Sam Abal are back in key positions. Mr Polye has got the important Finance portfolio while Mr Duma is back in charge of the Petroleum and Energy portfolio. Deputy Prime Minister Belden Namah is Minister for Forest and Climate Change; Bart Philemon - Public Service and Sports; Sir Puka Temu - Agriculture and Community Development; Sam Basil - Fisheries and Health; Francis Awesa Works, Transport and Civil Aviation; while Sir Mekere Morauta is the State Enterprises Minister and Dr Allan Marat is back as Attorney General. The government could be ousted however if a legal challenge by Sam Abal to this week's change of government is successful."
