Cook Islanders receive free chiropractic care

7:11 pm on 8 August 2011

About a thousand people in the Cook Islands have received free chiropractic care from a team of students led by a New Zealand chiropractor.

Bo Wong has for the fourth time led a group of students from the New Zealand Chiropractic College to Rarotonga.

He says the 45 third year students gave free consultations and treatment to a thousand patients with a range of spine problems over the week-long trip.

"Mainly the young boys and some of the young girls play rugby there. They're always being tackled. So we're finding a lot of low back pain, shoulder pain, back pain, neck pain, which is primarily caused by the bones being able to place pressure on the nerves."
