Vanuatu students overseas get some of their outstanding government funding

Vanuatu students, studying overseas, have now received allowances after more than two months of waiting.

The first political advisor of the ministry of education, Luna Tasong, says the payments were processed at the end of last week.

There'd been complaints from students in New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga that the second tranche of their allowances should have been paid in June.

Mr Tasong said this payment is only to cover the intervening two month period, with parliament needing to approve the remainder of the allowances before they can be paid out.
