The Cook Islands Ministry of Health is launching a mass free treatment programme this week to stamp out chlamydia as the sexually transmitted infection runs rampant.
The nationwide campaign is aimed at anyone between the ages of twelve and fifty, with staff visiting workplaces, schools, clinics and clubs all week.
The Cook Islands News says it's estimated as many as one in four people are currently infected with chlamydia and it's the most common STI in the Pacific.
Funding for the treatment is coming from the Secretariat of the Pacific Community.
