Governor of Central Bank of Samoa steps down after 22 years at post

The Governor of the Central Bank of Samoa, Papali'i Leasi Tommy Scanlan, has stepped down after holding the position for 22 years.

The Samoa Observer says Papali'i could not be reached for comment, however, his personal assistant Fogatia Mau, confirmed Papali'i's departure.

Papali'i is the first Samoan to head the Central Bank of Samoa.

He joined the Central Bank in late 1984 as Assistant Manager of the Bank's International Department.
