PNG embassy in Brussels in row with Belgian employee

3:08 pm on 18 August 2011

The Papua New Guinea embassy in Brussels is embroiled in a feud involving a Belgian national working there and the ambassador, that threatens to spill over into the courts of Belgium.

PNG's newspaper The National reports that Belgian national Martine-Ghislaine Victoria Chaplin van Camp has complained of sexual harassment, of being locked out of her office and of not being paid for four months, among other things.

The PNG ambassador to Brussels, Peter Maginde, has in turn accused Ms van Camp of blackmail, and says he plans to sue her for defamation.
