Tahiti viewed as key battleground for ASP surf tour

Tahiti is expected to be a crunch battleground when the ASP world surf tour rolls in this weekend.

The fifth round of the 11 event tour is significant after the previous four rounds produced four different winners.

The Billabong Pro Tahiti is the first real lefthander of tour and 10 time world champ, Kelly Slater says, this, combined with an expected big swell, will shove competitors out of their comfort zone.

It will be emotional in Tahiti as competitors remember the defending champ and three time ASP World Champion Andy Irons who passed away last November.
