The government in Solomon Islands is clamping down on corruption among its workers and suppliers.

Police are investigating several suspected cases, mainly to do with the supply of computer ware and stationery.

The Permanent Secretary of Finance, Shadrach Fanega, says a number of officials have been suspended pending the outcome of investigations.

He says all claims of maladministration, fraud and corruption will be checked by the Internal Audit Unit and sent on to police.
