Vanuatu WTO negotiator says his country must join if it's to control its destiny

Vanuatu's chief negotiator on the country's preparations to accede to the World Trade Organisation, says the package they've been offered is the best option.

Mr Roy Micky Joy, who's the Vanuatu ambassador to the European Union, says international non government organisations, which have criticised the deal, seem to have an agenda against the WTO and are determined to derail the process.

He says the country can't live in isolation from the global community but has to sit at the same table with all 155 members if it's to control its own destiny.
