American Samoa Senate approves a bill on ASPA board

The Senate has approved by unanimous vote a bill dealing with members of the board of directors of the American Samoa Power Authority, whose terms have expired.

The bill which is identical to one that the governor vetoed last year provides that any incumbent member of the ASPA board shall be deemed resigned, if they are not reappointed and resubmitted for confirmation within 90 days following the expiration of their terms.

Of the existing five members of the board, the terms of only two members are current: Reverend Asaua Fuimaono and Vaa Sokelati .

The bill will now be sent to the House.
