Another two people have been charged over a drug scam in which prominent Auckland-based Tongan sports figures allegedly tried to buy hundreds of millions of dollars of methamphetamine.

Two weeks ago police revealed Angus Naupoto and Peter Lawrence Tanginoa, who'd been associated with Tonga national rugby side, and former national league representative, Willie Wolfgramm, had been charged with conspiracy to import methamphetamine into New Zealand.

Police said people in Tonga had generated a scam that they had a stockpile of methamphetamine ready for shipment to New Zealand.

The New Zealand Herald reports that the latest arrests by Auckland police were of David Charles Mafi and Douglas David Afeaki who've been charged with conspiracy to import the class A drug.
