Pacific Showcase attracts Auckland crowd

3:17 pm on 6 September 2011

A Pacific Showcase at one of Auckland's newest venues for the Rugby World Cup is attracting huge crowds.

The event has been organised by the Pacific Cooperation Foundation in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

More than 60 stalls and exhibitors have set up at The Cloud on Auckland's wharf, featuring a fusion of arts, travel, music, dance, food, homewares, beauty, jewellery and fashion from different Pacific Islands.

The Pacific Co-operation Foundation's chief executive, Makerita Poutasi, says people coming through seem pleasantly surprised at what's on offer.

"And that's exactly what we wanted people to have, a really unique wonderful experience that says the Pacific is a great place to travel and to be in, but also we do wonderful things."

The Pacific Showcase ends on Thursday.
