American Samoa power prices to rise next month

The American Samoa Power Authority is putting up some of its charges from next month but lawmakers have again asked it to consider a delay.

Rates for most water uses are increasing as they are for the collection of solid waste or rubbish will also rise.

During a budget hearing on Monday, Tualauta lawmakers Larry Saniotoa and Galu Satele Jr. pleaded with ASPA officials to delay the increases.

They say the public can't afford the current rates, which were implemented just five months ago.
