The French government has started re-imbursing low-wage earners in French Polynesia who have bought digital television decoders.
The territory turned off analogue transmission signals yesterday
The publisher of the Tahiti-Pacifique monthly, Alex du Prel, says people have two months to claim the re-imbursement
"This is for the regular decoders that you use with regular antennas for the satellite dish converter. It's been promised to be reimbursed to everybody who cannot get over land signal, but there seems to be discrepancies over it. The cheapest satellite decoder was being sold for almost $400."
Alex du Prel says people can now buy decoders for 180 US dollars.
