Three emergency landings in Guam in less than a fortnight

The United Continental airline is investigating the cause of three emergency landings in less than a fortnight at Guam's international airport.

An airport spokesperson says all three, from Fiji, Japan and Australia, involved faulty indicator lights on B737 aircraft but each plane landed without incident.

Rolenda Faasuamalie says three emergency landings so close together is very unusual.

"I understand that Continental has called in a maintenance crew to do an assessment and ascertain what caused these problems. We're very thankful that they all landed without incident."

Rolenda Faasuamalie says emergency crews met the three minute response time for each landing.
