A domestic violence watchdog in Samoa is alarmed at signs anti-violence campaigns may be falling on deaf ears following the death of a brutally assaulted pregnant woman.
The 23 year old woman died at the weekend and attempts to save her six month old unborn child were unsuccessful.
The Mapusaga o Aiga family haven says the young mother's death is particularly alarming because there have been many campaigns in the past to stop domestic violence.
Police say a man is in police custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.
They say he is likely to face manslaughter charges.
