8:17 am on 20 October 2011

The editor in chief of the Samoa Observer, Savea Sano Malifa, will stand trial in February next year on a charge of wilful damage.

Savea, who's a high chief of Afega village, is accused by one of the village's elderly orators, Fata Pemila Young, of using his pickup truck to pull down his hut or a faleo'o about seven years ago over a land dispute.

Savea's case was scheduled to be heard this week but a district court judge has adjourned it till next year because the defence lawyer was unavailable due to other commitments.
