A German doctor has arrived in Nuku Hiva to assist the German woman whose partner was killed in the north of French Polynesia.

DNA tests in France have confirmed that the human remains found in a fire in Nuku Hiva are from her parnter, Stefan Ramin, who went missing nearly two weeks ago.

The remains were found in ashes in a remote valley when a 20-strong police force was searching for him and a local guide, Henri Haiti.

Mr Haiti is suspected of killing Mr Ramin and assaulting his partner who raised the alarm after being assaulted.

Police are yet to find Mr Haiti who has been on the run for nearly two weeks.
