Vanuatu's agriculture minister, James Ngwango, has written to the Public Service Commission, asking for the dismissal of the director of the quarantine department, Benuel Tarilongi, and its senior executive officer, Christie Ayong.
The minister says an audit last year found there was an unlawful use of revenue collected by the department of livestock and quarantine.
Mr Ngwango says after carefully reviewing the information, he has decided to recommend they be sacked.
The minister alleges that Mr Tarilongi abused his position to purchase housing materials for his government rental home in Port Vila.
Mr Ngwango has also accused him of acting as a recruiting agent for a foreign tuna fishing company.
