Laws to restrict the output of sound systems in cars have now been signed off by American Samoa governor Togiola Tulafono.

The law bans the driver of a vehicle from allowing the operation of any sound amplification system which can be heard more than 15 metres away.

Police, authorised emergency and vehicles used in parades are exempt.

Togiola says preserving peace and tranquility in the villages is an important goal.
