Fiji trade unionist to appear in court

9:55 am on 7 November 2011

The Fiji trade unionist Daniel Urai is expected to appear in court today to face a charge after ten days in police custody.

The Ministry of Information cannot confirm what he will be charged with.

Mr Urai was picked up by police after returning from a series of meetings in Australia during which time the Australian Council of Trade Unions announced a plan to roll out a campaign against holidaying in Fiji.

Another trade unionist, Felix Anthony, was detained by police on Friday, and the Ministry of Information says he could also appear in court today.
