With dengue fever cases skyrocketing in the Marshall Islands medical officials from the United States Centers for Disease Control are conducting house-to-house mosquito inspections throughout Majuro Atoll.
More than 150 people have been diagnosed with dengue on Majuro in the past two weeks.
A CDC official, Tyler Sharp, says that figure is likely to represent only 25 percent of the actual total since a majority of those infected do not experience dengue symptoms, which include fever, nausea and other flu-like symptoms.
Cases have also been found on nearby Arno.
The islands of Palau and Yap, on the western side of Micronesia, are also reporting dengue fever outbreaks.
