Nominations open tomorrow morning for prime minister in Solomon Islands after the resignation this morning of Danny Philip.
Mr Philip resigned ahead of a vote of no confidence brought in his government by the opposition.
He told journalists he felt he'd lost the support of the people while the opposition clearly had the backing in parliament of the majority of MPs.
The governor general Sir Frank Kabui says the nominations for prime minister will open Saturday and close on Sunday.
The election of the prime minister by the other parliamentarians is due to take place on Wednesday.
