PacINET conference hears calls for a strong IT curriculum in schools

A panelist at the PacINET conference says advances in information technology can create a wider divide between the haves and have nots if there's no equal access.

The founder and Executive Director of the Pacific Islands Center for Educational Development, was among women leaders on a panel that looked at ways to attract females to study Information Technology and increase women leaders in the industry.

Sandra King Young says many students lack basic computer knowledge but are eager to learn.

Ms King Youg is calling for a strong IT curriculum in schools and to make computers accessible to students.

She says parents can also foster their children's interest in IT and believes everyone should have access to IT.
