Ten children die in house fire in remote part of PNG

Reports from Papua New Guinea say 10 children were burnt to death in a remote part of Chimbu a week ago.

The Post Courier newspaper says the children were aged from five to ten years.

The Chimbu provincial police commander, Chief Inspector John Kale, says it is the most tragic accident he has witnessed in his career.

He says the cause of the fire is unclear but it's thought the children had failed to extinguish the fire used for heating before going to bed.
