In the Northern Marianas, a Japanese tourist was dragged several metres by a car when she chased a man who had grabbed her bag as she was walking in the capital, Saipan.
Witnesses say the victim and her boyfriend were in a popular tourist area when a man suddenly grabbed her bag.
The pair then chased the robber, who jumped into a waiting vehicle.
The female tourist was able to hold on to the door of the front passenger's side but because the vehicle sped off, she was dragged for a few metres until she fell.
The 32-year-old tourist suffered extensive bruising on her legs and left arm.
There has been a rise in crimes against tourist on Saipan recently.
Last month, five robberies were perpetrated against tourists, which led the CNMI House of Representatives to pass a bill increasing minimum jail time for such offences.
