American Samoa plans for airport construction approved

Improvements to the airport apron and construction of a jet bridge in American Samoa are being listed as top priorities in the Pago Pago International Airport Master Plan.

The final plan developed by a well-known mainland company that designs major airports such as Los Angeles International, AECOM has been approved by the Department of Port Administration.

The plan will be the guide for airport expansion and will be a feather in the Government's cap to attract funding from the federal government.

An Airport Engineer Chris Soti says the two projects go hand in hand.

The estimated price tag of a jet bridge is 32 million US dollars.
