In American Samoa, one of five rugby players charged with the assault of a Samoa referee will learn next week if the court has accepted his plea agreement with the government.
Nu'uuli rugby player, Selefuti Tago, who was charged with first degree assault and public peace disturbance, is pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge of third degree assault.
This carries a prison term of one year or a fine of 1,000 US dollars.
In return for his guilty plea, the government is dropping the public peace disturbance charge.
The court has taken the plea agreement under advisement and will render a decision the 3rd of December.
Tago and his co-defendants charges relates to the attack of referee Ponifasio Vasa in July while he was officiating a shield match between Nu'uuli and the Avele rugby team.
The defendants were apparently upset with a call made by the referee.
Nu'uuli has been banned from any American Samoa Rugby Union fixtures for one year as a result.
