Niue supports call for better aid information from donors

A Niue government minister has told aid talks in South Korea the lack of predictability around aid money is one of the major problems for small island states.

The Minister for Justice, Lands, Survey and Public Works Kupa Magatogia says Pacific Island countries have over the last five years increased efforts to integrate and reflect aid on their national budgets.

But they have been hampered by a lack of transparency and information from some development partners and ministries.

The minister told the High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness that aid makes up more than 50 percent of some Pacific Island countries' budgets.

The Niue delegate says it supports calling on development partners to deliver on their promises for more timely, accurate and transparent information on all aid provided.
