Samoa's dateline shift seen as boost for tourism

2:33 pm on 13 December 2011

American Samoa tourism operators hope the shifting of the dateline in Samoa will boost tourism.

The American Samoa Visitors Bureau says it is using the time difference that will exist between the neighbouring islands from the 29th of December, as a marketing tool to attract tourists.

The chief executive of the bureau, David Vaeafe, says there are unique holiday experiences that can be packaged between both the territory and Samoa.
