American Samoa senate discusses hospital funding under urgency

12:09 pm on 13 January 2012

The American Samoa Senate moved with urgency to review a bill introduced yesterday to help fund the LBJ Hospital.

Senate President Gaoteote Palaie sponsored the bill which appropriates 3 million US dollars from the Workmens Compensation Account to keep the hospital afloat.

The CEO of the LBJ Hospital has warned that the hospital may not be able to cover its next payroll since it has not received any new funding.

The Senate met as committee of the whole after the bill was introduced and voted to approve the bill and have it on today's agenda for second reading.
