A study in the Northern Marianas has found that more than a 100 pre-schoolers are either overweight or underweight.

The height and weight assessment was conducted among children at the Public School System's Head Start programme.

It found 136 out of the 462 enrolled children are affected by such weight issues, prompting moves to find out more about the children's home situation.

Head Start says children are provided with free meals at the center, all of which are in accordance with the Food and Nutrition Services' guidelines to ensure what they consume is nutritious and healthy.
