Philip threatens Solomons government stability

8:02 am on 23 January 2012

A former Solomon Islands prime minister Danny Philip has threatened to mastermind a massive walkout of the ruling coalition over what he describes as serious differences over government policies.

According to the Solomon Star, Mr Philip has threatened to quit following what he calls serious fissure within the administration, led by Gordon Darcy Lilo.

Mr Philip's move is in response to Mr Lilo's decision to abolish the National Bureau for Social and Economic Reform.

Mr Philip says the decision is pathetic, far-fetched and short-sighted.

Mr Lilo says the Bureau was taking the country into a pit hole because it is running on the expense of the rural population.
