Samoa government plans to the use private hospital to avoid overseas treatments

The Samoa government has plans to use the private Medcen hospital to treat patients with health problems that are currently treated overseas.

The Samoa government has approved a proposal for the purchase of the private Medcen hospital funded by a loan from the state's Development Bank because of its financial difficulties.

At present heart patients from Samoa that need operations and medical care are transferred to New Zealand.

The Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, said in a radio interview a New Zealand hospital will work in partnership with his government.
