Samoa's cabinet has approved commemorative coins to mark the country's 50 years of independence from New Zealand.

The coins will feature the picture of the head of state, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, and the 50th Independence Anniversary logo on the reverse side.

The coins are expected to arrive in Samoa on May 1st.

There is expected to be demand for the coins not only in Samoa, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, but also in big countries that have long-time partnerships with Samoa like Germany, Britain and the United States.
